Nurse Practitioner (Family Practice) - Float

Nurse Practitioner Opportunity Highlights:

This position may be filled as a part-time (.8 FTE) or full-time (1.0 FTE), ARNP, benefited position. The part-time position would have two half-days, or one whole day off (which would need to be Thursdays). We hope to have an ideal candidate hired by June 1; or sooner, if possible. Location: Primary location in Bellingham.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • The ARNP Float will provide comprehensive health care in a family practice (and Peds) community health center spending a portion of time seeing patients who require same-day appointments and spending a portion of time performing “desktop duties” for all other UCNW provider staff in order to reduce their time spent on administrative tasks. UCNW manages patient care using a team-based approach in our interactions with patients and working to achieve stated objectives and outcomes.

  • We anticipate, this part-time position, seeing 10-12 patients per day

  • Fully implemented EMR system (GE Centricity) with one-on-one training provided

  • Outpatient work only - no OB and no hospital rounds

  • Support staff in the areas of nursing, on-site behavioral health, medical records, EMR/IT, case management, referrals, & helping patients seek insurance

  • Occasional Saturdays with choice of a day off the previous week or additional pay.

Ideal Candidate Offers:

  • Graduate of a certified ARNP program that is recognized by the Washington State Board of Examiners or Washington Nursing Board to practice Family Practice.

  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Washington and in good standing with the Washington State Department of Health board of licensing.

  • Must be certified by the applicable board (such as AANP or ANCC for Nurse Practitioners).

  • We prefer an experienced provider but may consider a new graduate with relate training.

  • The provider must know his/her limitations of training and know when to ask for clinical support via his or her sponsoring physician &/or medical director. 

  • Chart notes for same-day appointments must be completed on the same day patients are seen. 

  • This specialist position will additionally perform "desktop duties" that support provider staff.  These duties include but are not limited to: assisting providers with medication refills; checking for critical labs; completing forms; reviewing phone call notes in EMR; and reviewing prioritizing and performing other tasks as assigned that support the duties, responsibilities, and standards outlined in this job description.  Prioritization of desktop duties for each provider and among all providers is an important part of this position and will require ongoing communication with providers as well as care team members.
