Opportunity Highlights:

Unity Care NW is seeking, a Full-Time Psychiatrist, benefited position (willing to consider .5 - 1.0 FTE); with anticipated to start July of 2019, start date flexible. This position may also be filled by a Full-Time ARNP.

Location: Primary location in Bellingham, occasional coverage in Ferndale

The Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric care in a multi-specialty group practice community health center. This position must be able to work with a multi-disciplinary team and effectively educate, provide consultation, and support primary care providers, behavioral health professionals, support staff, and other collaborative partners with diagnoses, medication management, and treatment plans.  Patients are mainly adults, ability to work with adolescents and children, a plus. UCNW manages patient care using a team-based approach in our interactions with patients and working to achieve stated objectives and outcomes.

Ideal Candidate Offers:

  • Successful completion of an approved Medical or Osteopathic school.
  • Successful completion of a 3-year accredited residency in psychiatry.
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience preferred.
  • MAT, including Buprenorphine, required; experience preferred.
  • Experience in substance use disorders and medication assisted therapy, a plus.
  • No requirements around prior experience.

Certification and Licensure:

  • Current, valid license as a physician in Washington State required.
  • Current DEA certificate required, and a waiver, or ability to obtain a waiver within 60 days, to treat opioid dependency with approved buprenorphine products (Medication Assisted Therapy).
  • Board certified for adults, preferably willing to serve adolescent and adult patients.   
  • Current BLS Certification required.

Specialized Skills & Knowledge include:

  • Full scope of adult psychiatric care required. 

  • Ability to understand and respond effectively and with sensitivity to special population groups, including those defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, gender, sexual orientation, economic standing, & others.

  • Proficiency with computers (specifically electronic medical records software, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and the internet).

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of patients, staff, outside agencies, and the general public.

  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

  • Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions and develop appropriate management/treatment plans.

  • Ability to exercise balanced judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions, and to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner.

  • Ability to conform to UCNW confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations.

  • Ability to provide psychiatric consultation and support to primary care providers and other behavioral health professionals and support staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to offer leadership to a clinical team.
