Billing Specialist - Full Time
Location:Bellingham, WA

The Billing Specialist is responsible for maintaining an efficient private insurance, Medicaid/Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Medicare, and private pay patient accounts system.  The biller is responsible for entering all payments and encounters into the billing system in a timely manner to ensure that accounts are always up to date and payment is received as soon as possible. Unity Care Northwest (NCNW) manages patient care using a team-based approach in our interactions with patients and working to achieve stated objectives and outcomes.

Position Highlights:

  • Accounts Receivable – resolving deigned claims and submitting appeals

  • Posting payments for medical, dental, and behavioral health

  • May assist with collection activities, as needed

  • Entering charges for dental and behavioral health, as needed

  • Flexible to new responsibilities as our organization grows

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • HS diploma or equivalent required

  • College or technical school degree or courses in medical coding and billing and/or minimum 2 years in the field of medical billing preferred; or equivalent education, training and experience. Experience with medical terminology, dental coding/billing is a plus.

  • Certified professional biller (CPB) preferred

  • Proficiency and accuracy in 10-key and keyboarding

  • Proficiency with computers, software systems (practice management systems, MS Outlook, Work, Excel), and office machines (copier, fax, telephone and credit card machine).

  • Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding
