A Little About Our Houghton Clinic

Our UGL Houghton Clinic serves as the on-site student health services center for Michigan Technological University, conveniently located in the Michigan Tech Student Development Complex. We provide walk-in and same-day care visits, along with the convenience of online scheduling that fits into busy student and community schedules.

 

We offer primary care, OB/GYN services, internal medicine, and geriatrics, making us a trusted provider for patients at every stage of life. With onsite radiology, lab, and pharmacy services, the Houghton clinic is truly a one-stop shop for healthcare, designed to provide seamless, high-quality care close to home.


What You’ll Do

As a Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant with UGLFHC, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming, efficient, and compassionate care environment for patients and our clinical team. Every day brings the opportunity to make a real impact by:

  • Assisting providers in delivering primary care to patients of all ages.
  • Preparing patients for exams and treatments, including vital signs, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
  • Administering immunizations and supporting preventative health services.
  • Helping manage chronic conditions in partnership with providers and patients.
  • Coordinating follow-up care, referrals, and patient education to support long-term wellness.
  • Supporting patients with resources and reassurance to help them navigate their care journey.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and contributing to efficient patient flow in the clinic.
  • Building meaningful relationships with patients and families to promote trust and continuity of care.

Job Qualifications:
  • Provide evidence of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within first 90 days of employment.
  • One year related experience, preferred.
  • Certified as a Medical Assistant, preferred.
