What You’ll Do

As Clinical Informatics Nurse Specialist you will serve as the organization’s subject matter expert in nursing informatics and EMR optimization. This role bridges the gap between clinical practice and health information technology, ensuring that eClinicalWorks (eCW) and other EMR systems are fully aligned with patient care workflows. The specialist will combine nursing expertise with informatics knowledge to train, support, and guide staff while advancing clinical documentation standards, regulatory compliance, and quality initiatives.

Job Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of clinical information systems design and application normally acquired through completion of a nursing program.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred; Master’s degree in Nursing Informatics or related field desirable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) required.
  • Current RN license in the State of Michigan.
  • Previous clinical informatics experience preferred.
  • Hands-on expertise with eClinicalWorks (preferred) or other major EMR platforms.
  • Previous teaching/training and project management experience, including participation in at least one clinical information systems implementation or go-live.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and quality reporting.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge clinical and technical teams.

PREFERRED QUALITIES

  • Recognized as a clinical “super-user” or go-to problem solver for EMR issues.
  • Active interest in professional development in nursing informatics.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate workflows and recommend evidence-based improvements.
  • Passion for teaching, mentoring, and empowering clinical staff in the use of technology.
