Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Developmental Disabilities (DD) program provides coordinated health care services for individuals; and assures optimal health care services for the individuals in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the agency.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse will maintain the mission of person-centered planning, perform pre-admission evaluations of new individuals, provide health appraisal procedures as needed, as well as evaluates, teaches and documents self-medication steps to individuals if needed. The Registered Nurse will med-certify staff that have completed an appropriate OPWDD AMAP course, as well as re-certify med staff annually and evaluate med staff semi-annually as dictated. The Registered Nurse must be available to med staff (via telephone within 30 minutes) for medical emergencies/medication concerns, during “off” hours/days. As well as other duties as assigned by the relevant supervisor.


Education & Experience

Current NYS License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. (Minimum ASN)

Three (3) years of experience working as a Registered Nurse and knowledge of developmental disabilities preferred. Or, two (2) years of experience working as an RN, PLUS, two years working in a developmental disabilities or mental health agency.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
