The Family Peer Support Service Worker in the Children & Family Treatment Support Services Program assists in providing services to families in the areas where support and advocacy is needed, but do not require the full services of the Care Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Family Support Service Worker is responsible for escorting, providing advocacy, assisting families to access community resources, and family support. Accompany and transportation of children and families are essential components of the position.


Education & Experience

Family Peer Support will be delivered by a New York State Credentialed Family Peer Advocate (FPA). To be eligible for the FPA Credential, the individual must demonstrate ‘lived experience’ as a parent or primary caregiver who has navigated multiple child serving systems on behalf of their child(ren) with social, emotional, developmental, health and/or behavioral healthcare needs.  A high school diploma, high school equivalency preferred or a State Education Commencement Credential is required.  Bilingual in Spanish is required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties for this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively.  The employee is required to stand; use mobility, handle, or feel and reach.   The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel or crouch.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
