Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professionals (DSP) is responsible for implementing individualized action plans for individuals with Intellectual/ Developmental Disabilities in a residential setting to maximize their functioning in the community. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will assist in the improvement of personal care, social skills, money management, life skills and in their general wellbeing.

Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Direct Support Professional, you are required to have knowledge of Individual Staff Action Plans, provide constant supervision and observation of individuals, assist in maintaining cleanliness of the residence, and serve as a role model and advocate.  Mandatory overtime is required, driving is mandatory, and a valid, non-restricted driver license is required for this position. You will be required to successfully complete AMAP Certification and administer medications as prescribed by a doctor(s) to the individuals as soon as scheduled, within 90 days of hire. You will be required to successfully complete Tube feeding training for certification (if required) within 90 days of hire.

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid (non-restricted) Driver’s License
  • Related work experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively. Must be able to do all SCIP-R physical interventions including use of lifts that are provided for all required lifting of individuals, and be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Must be able to travel stairs to the 2nd floor as necessary.
