Help carpenters by assisting them with their projects. Duties include using, supplying or holding materials or tools, and cleaning work area and equipment. Carpenter Helpers will be required to perform a variety of duties as directed by the carpenter or R&M Manager.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job)
  • Assist Carpenters in construction of framework, as well as, repair, and maintenance of permanent and temporary structures.
  • Assist carpenter in laying out work. Learn to perform lay-out independently.
  • Follow established jobsite safety regulations. Recognize and report potential safety issues.
  • Clean work areas, machines, and equipment, to maintain a safe and productive jobsite.
  • Select tools, equipment and materials needed for the day’s task and transport them to work area.
  • Help set up and move work areas when necessary.
  • Be aware of task ahead and make sure the proper PPE is on hand.
  • Ability to place and finish small quantities of concrete (housekeeping pads, stoops, sidewalks, etc.)
  • Insure the work area remains stocked with materials being used and tools needed.
  • Assist in demolition activities as required to perform safely.
  • Clean work area and restock supplies/materials as necessary; assist to lift, position, secure cutting of materials and work-pieces during installation
  • Learn to use appropriate hand and power tools to assist carpenters in measuring, cutting, assembly and installation of forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts; load, transport.
  • Unload, and furnish carpenter with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level; install all items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job)

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) Preferred
  • 2 Year experience as a Labor/Helper in the commercial/construction field.
  • Comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to understand information, ideas, direction and then be able to perform the task or project discussed. Also, to be able to ask questions to insure you understand the information given.
  • Provide and maintain general hand tools including: Tool belt, hammer, tape measure, hand levels, square, chalk box, plumb bob, tie-wire reel, screw drivers, pliers, etc.
  • General knowledge of interior finish items, including but not limited to: wall protection, doors & hardware, toilet accessories, cubicle curtain track, TV brackets, etc.
