About This Position

The Senior Product Engineer designs, develops, and enhances new and existing products/product lines. The Senior Product Engineer evaluates and recommends specifications and ensures products meet the technical and functional requirements. The Senior Product Engineer recommends and follows reliable, efficient, and cost-effective procedures. The Senior Product Engineer engages R&D team, and may lead engineering project teams, design and perform verification test activities. The Senior Product Engineer trains and may direct more junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and analyze cost and return on investment for product ideas.
  • Perform feasibility, functional, and quality testing of designs.
  • Coordinate & works with other members of the engineering staff and across the organization to ensure project milestones are met and that projects are completed according to established timelines.
  • Work closely with R&D team to design, validate, and implement product ideas.
  • Work with purchasing to select alternate parts as the supply chain shifts, or customer requirements move.
  • Lead products from development through manufacturing release and obsolescence.
  • Generate engineering and manufacturing documentation as needed (DFMEA, DVPR, Drawings, PFMEA, Work Instructions).
  • Be self-motivated, with a drive to complete projects and document results.
  • Thrive in a small team environment.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers to develop Quality Control measures to ensure ongoing product reliability.
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • May provide leadership within the work group; mentors and trains more junior staff as requested.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Product Development experience (7+ years)
  • Product Management experience (7+ years)
  • Product reliability testing on electronic and mechanical/fluidic systems
  • DOE/Statistical analysis
  • CAD (SolidWorks) experience, GD&T
  • LabView/Python experience
  • Automation experience desired
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and multi-task
  • Highly organized, reliable, and resourceful
  • Flexible to travel to suppliers or customer locations as required.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously & within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Extremely proactive with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
