Job Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You’ll work to construct and maintain under the direction of a Journeyman rated Supervisor:

 

 Key Responsibilities

  • Perform construction, maintenance, and restoration of energized and de-energized overhead and underground residential distribution (URD) lines.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with applicable specifications, standards, and codes.
  • Patrol distribution lines to identify defective materials, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions; notify supervisor of findings.
  • Perform duties of Groundman, Equipment Operator, and Lineman as assigned.
  • Ensure trucks, tools, and assigned equipment are properly used and maintained in good working order.
  • Respond to after-hours outages on a rotating basis and remain available during inclement weather impacting the Cooperative’s electrical system.
  • Recognize and manage hazards including falls, electric shock, arc flash, traffic exposure, and falling objects; properly utilize safety equipment.
  • Learn, understand, and comply with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Construct and maintain fiber lines.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.

✔ WHAT IT TAKES

  • High school diploma or state equivalency certificate (GED).
  • Successful completion of the Apprentice Line Technician III and II programs (or equivalent experience/training).
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license required and must be maintained.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Positive attitude and strong team spirit

  • Available for non-standard shifts, overtime, and emergency callouts

 


Preferred Qualifications         

  • Five (5) years of experience in overhead and underground line construction and maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, safety materials, and work-related documents.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment and laptop computers.
  • Ability to work nonstandard hours, overtime, and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and procedures.

Work Environment

  • Approximately 90% of work is performed outdoors.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Exposure to electrical hazards and moderate noise levels.
  • Required use of specialized safety equipment and strict adherence to safety rules and procedures.
