System Hardening Engineer – Morrisville, NC

Catapult is looking for an individual who will join the security team of a major nationwide organization, with thousands of sites, to continually improve its complex multi-protocol nationwide network.  A network application security engineer who understands how the Hardware / Software Asset Management program of a large enterprise should work is needed to support the team. The ideal candidate for this job will be an experienced information security practitioner who is goal-oriented and strives to exceed expectations.

Knowledge of industry standards including but not limited to:

NIST 800 Series
NIST Cybersecurity Framework
CIS Benchmarks
Vendor Best practice documentation
Other platform specific documentation
Must have a deep understanding of ports, protocols, and services and their interactions within systems
Must be able to methodically secure and harden enterprise level systems and platforms
Policy Oriented – Must be able to understand the effects and application of policy on enterprise critical systems
Deep understanding and established methodologies of securing technologies in all layers of the OSI Layer
Must be able to identify unnecessary processes and functions of a given system or platform
Constative Communicator – Must be able to effectively communicate technical knowledge and translate to business leadership
Skilled Writer – Must be able to communicate technical knowledge effectively through writing

Abilities Required:
• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel while typing at a computer keyboard.
• The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, or lift objects up to 10 pounds.
• The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The vision requirements include: close vision.
