Position Summary:

Join our team at the Cass County Health Clinic as a clinical therapist.  Our therapists provide mental health services in outpatient and community-based settings using collaborative treatment approaches that they can tailor to suit their own style as well as the needs of the clients they're serving. Counseling will be provided in office as well as in local school districts with the ideal candidate comfortable seeing children ages 4 and above.

Pay: $35-$45/per hour based on experience. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
1. Behavioral Health Assessment & Treatment

• Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments, psychosocial history and risk assessments. 
• Utilize standardized screening tools (e.g., depression, anxiety, substance use) in alignment with clinic protocols.
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans. 
• Provide individual, family, and group counseling services. 
• Deliver brief interventions consistent with integrated care models. 
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated. 

2. Integrated Care & Collaboration

• Collaborate with primary care providers and care team members to support whole-person care. 
• Participate in team huddles, case conferences, and care coordination activities. 
• Provide behavioral health consultation to medical staff. 
• Support population health initiatives and quality improvement efforts. 

3. Crisis Intervention & Risk Management 

• Assess and manage behavioral health crises, including suicide risk and safety planning 
• Provide appropriate interventions, including de-escalation and referral to higher levels of care when needed. 
• Follow clinic protocols for mandatory reporting and patient safety.

4. Care Coordination & Referrals

• Coordinate referrals to specialty behavioral health, substance use treatment, and community resources. 
• Ensure follow-up and continuity of care through closed-loop referral process.

5. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). 
• Ensure all documentation meets HRSA, UDS, HIPAA, and FTCA standards. 
• Document treatment plans, progress notes, screenings, and outcomes. 

6. Patient Education & Advocacy

• Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. 
• Promote patient engagement and self-management. 
• Provide culturally competent, trauma-informed care. 

7. Professional Development

• Participate in required trainings, including compliance, quality improvement, and clinical best practices. 
• Maintain current knowledge of behavioral health standards, regulations, and evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
  • Master’s Degree (M.A.) or equivalent or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience preferred, ideally in an outpatient or integrated care setting.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
  • To perform the job successfully an individual should have knowledge of medical record software, internet software, spreadsheet software and word processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Current Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois.

  • CPR Certification
Other Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work with patients ranging in age from small children to older adults.
  • Ability to work one-on-one or in a group setting.
  • Willing to travel to local schools to provide counseling services.
