Position Summary:
The Cass County Health Department is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Finance Associate to join our growing organization. This position plays a key role in supporting the daily financial operations of the organization, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, financial reporting, and general accounting functions. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and committed to maintaining financial integrity while providing excellent internal and external customer service.

Salary Range: 

$26.00 - $29.00 based on experience






Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

  • Audits packing slips to vouchers.
  • Verifies all vouchers submitted for payment and enters into accounting software.
  • Answers all vendor inquiries and researches vendor charges as necessary.
  • Prepares accounts payable checks and has checks signed by admin and board president.
  • Prepares and mails or delivers signed checks, files stubs and receipts.
  • Enters all deposits received from billing staff into accounting software.
  • Enters all other checks received into accounting software and prepares deposit.
  • Takes all deposits to bank and matches bank deposits and receipts to accounting software deposit reports.
  • Performs payroll process in conjunction with financial officer.
  • Assists with preparation and submission of grant reports.
  • Acts as backup to reconcile, review, and post the unposted bank deposits entries in the accounting software
  • Act as backup for monthly allocation process.
  • Act as backup for monthly revenue accrual process.
  • Act as backup for monthly and quarterly grant reporting.
  • Act as backup for monthly board of health financial reports.
  • Maintains and prepares financial reports for TB program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Language Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate’s Degree (A.A.) in accounting or equivalent months at a minimum 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word processing software.
