Human Resources Director - Casino
FT/PT Status:Full Time

Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and administers various human resources plan and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the department.Creates department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys and develops annual departmental salary budget; analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
  • Develops, recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures.
  • Conducts analytical studies; prepares or reviews reports of findings, alternatives and recommendations; prepares a variety of written materials including correspondence.
  • Prepares various HR-related correspondence and reports.
  • Provides excellent customer service to employees.
  • Responses to inquiries from staff via phone and/or email.
  • Provides assistance on payroll-related projects.
  • Responsible for quarterly safety meetings, ensuring safety is priority for organization.
  • Works with management team on succession planning as necessary.
  • Develops financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends and variances, developing action plan, measuring and analyzing results.
  • Provides support to other departmental functions when needed.

AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Is responsible for the overall administration of the Human Resources Department.  Provides direction to the Human Resources staff comprised of benefits administration, recruitment, training, administration and more.  Also provides support to the executive management team.


  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
  • Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Casino Resort.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Comprehensive understanding of basic HR principles and knowledge of HR related laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
  • Must have experience in many faucets of human resources such as benefits, recruitment, training, compensation, and policy development.


Job Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business or related field and 1 year experience, or
  • A combination of education in Human Resources, Business or a related field, and a minimum of five (5) years experience in Human Resources.
  • Must also have 2 years supervisory experience in Human Resources.
  • PHR or SPHR preferred.


  • Shalpossess a validriver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
  • Shall obtain Tribal Human Resources Professional Certification (THRP) within one (1) year of hire.
