Description:

The PeerConsumer Specialist serves as a clinical member of a multidisciplinary team in thedepartment/service.  Provides a peerviewpoint about the recovery process, symptom management, and the persistencerequired by clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses to maintain ahealthy life style.  Collaborates topromote a team culture that recognizes, understands, and respects each client’spoint of view, experiences, and preferences. Maximize client choice, self-determination, and decision making in theplanning, delivery, and evaluation of treatment, rehabilitation, and supportservices.  Provides peer counseling,consultation, practical help and support, mentoring, advocacy, coordination,problem-solving, direct assistance, supervision, and side-by-side support toclients, families, and team staff support of the client’s health and wellnessefforts;  serve as liaison with communityresources;  carry out rehabilitation andsupport functions;  and assist intreatment, substance abuse services, education, support, and consultation tofamilies, and crisis intervention.  Mayperform professional duties and clinical supervision if appropriateprofessional credentials are attained.

Assistsin the development of strengths-based individual goals.

 Serves asan advocate, mentor, or facilitator for resolution of issues that a peer isunable to resolve on their own.

 Assistsin the development of rehabilitation goals.

 Develops communitysupport.

Provideseducation in ways to maintain personal wellness and recovery.

Provideseducation on mental health navigation.


Education and Experience:
  • Mental health consumer who has been diagnosed and in recovery from a mental illness within the past two (2) years who is willing to be a role model for adults with serious or persistent mental illness.
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Shift:  Monday - Friday   10 hours per week - days & hours vary

Rate of Pay: $9.00hr

To be considered for employment, you will be required to undergo a criminal background check, employment references check, and drug screening. In addition you must have a current and valid driver's license with no more than 6 points. A 3 year driving record will also be required upon hire.
