The PeerSpecialist collaborates with other CRF staff to promote a team culture thatrecognizes, understands, and respects each client’s point of view, experiences,and preferences.  The Peer Specialistpromotes client choice, self-determination, and decision making with preferenceof receiving facility providers and outpatient services as appropriate.  Provides peer counseling, consultation,practical help and support, mentoring, advocacy, coordination, problem-solving,and side-by-side support to clients, families, and team staff; serve as liaisonwith community resources; and assist in crisis intervention. 

Serves asan advocate, mentor, or facilitator for resolution of issues that a client incrisis is unable to resolve on their own.

Provideseducation and support to clients/families presenting for crisis management to regainand maintain personal wellness and recovery.

Provides coachingon how to navigate the mental health/substance abuse treatment system.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified as a Peer Specialist or eligible to obtain Peer Specialist certification.
  • Recognized as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist by the Florida Certification Board and in good standing or willing to obtain such certification within six (6) months of employment.
  • Must posess a current and valid driver's license with no more than six (6) points and maintain Apalachee Designated Auto Driver's status if transporting consumers is part of the job assignment.
  • Lived experience as a consumer of mental health services; in active recovery.
ShiftSchedule B, 7:30 am-8:00 pm, days of the week vary

Rate of Pay: $09.00hr

To be considered for employment, you will be required to undergo a criminal background check, employment references check, and drug screening. In addition you must have a current and valid driver's license with no more than 6 points. A 3 year driving record will also be required upon hire.
