Overview:


A Peer Specialist uses his or her lived experience to serve as a mentor to provide support for persons with severe persistent mental illness and or substance use disorder. This role will promote hope and set person-centered recovery-oriented goals. The role is non-clinical and does not include treatment, assessment and/or clinical evaluations of clients. It involves developing a relationship of trust that builds clients’ resilience, hope, recovery skills, and connects them to treatment services.

 
ShiftMonday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm 

Rate of Pay:  Non certified Peer Specialist:  $15.00 per hour

Certified Peer Specialist (recognized by the Florida Certification Board). 

1-2 years of experience = $17.00 per hour 
3-5 years of experience = $18.00 per hour
6+ years of experience = $19.00 per hour

 

 


Education and Experience:
  • A family member or caregiver to another person who is living with a mental health condition; or
  • Certification as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist certified by the Florida Certification Board; or
  • A minimum of one year of experience working directly with children or adolescents with behavioral health needs. 



To be considered for employment, you will be required to undergo a criminal background check, employment references check, and drug screening. In addition you must have a current and valid driver's license with no more than 6 points. A 3 year driving record will also be required upon hire.
