Track Machine Operator - Western Can
  
**Immediate need for experienced Mark IV Tamper, Ballast Regulator, & Boomtruck Operators w/ Hirails (goes on track)

IMPORTANT NOTES:
  • This job will require travel throughout Western Canada for extended periods of time. 
  • This job will require working in all types of weather conditions.
  • Due to the physically demanding nature of the position, candidates will be required to undergo a fitness test as a condition of employment.

    • MAIN PURPOSE:
    Ensuring safety is a priority, operators work in a team environment to build and maintain railways in numerous locations across Canada. An Operator will be in charge of one or more specific machine: Mark IV Tamper, Ballast Regulator, & Boomtrucks w/ Hirails
    Daily inspections and minor repairs are also completed.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensuring safety is a priority to self, fellow workers, the general public and the assets of the company and following policies and procedures set out by the company
  • Compliance to track rules and instructions according to CROR
  • Operate one or more specific machines such as but not limited to; Mark IV Tamper, Ballast Regulator, & Boomtruck w/ Hirails goes on track)
  • Daily walk around inspection of machine, general housekeeping of machine and minor repairs to machine when necessary to ensure safe operation
  • Daily administration of log books, job briefings etc. 
  • Assist with manual labour when necessary
  • Communicate effectively over radio 
  • Meet productivity level requirements set out by supervisors/foremen

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Ability to operator required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Effective communication skills including listening, writing and speaking
  • Experienced for minimum one season operating one of the following: Mark IV Tamper or Ballast Regulator, or Boomtruck w/ Hirails (goes on track) w/ required training/certification

    REQUIREMENTS
  • 1 season machine operation of Boomtruck w/ highrails, Mark IV tamper or Regulator required
  • Class 5 Driver’s License required plus specific to machine licences/training: Boomtruck w/ Hirails: Class 1 or 3, valid crane certification and with MKIV tamper and Regulator: Class 5, previous CROR
  • Clear criminal record preferred
  • Clean drivers abstract preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs unassisted
