Contract & Claims Manager- Ontario

 Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager- Ontario, the Contract Claims Manager is responsible for the claims development management and a variety of claims during the project execution phase. As the Contract & Claims Manager, you must have the ability to independently investigate,. Claims will typically cover construction, delay, force majeure and design changes with the construction process. 


  • Claims management (typically with values in excess of $1M)
  • Draft and negotiate large claims through dispute and arbitration processes
  • Review and negotiation of claims during the execution phase
  • Identification and communication of contract risks and terms to the project team
  • Development and implementation of claim strategies
  • Liaison with insurance and legal advisors to ensure risks are appropriately identified and managed
  • Commercial and contractual advice to Project Managers and project teams
  • Assistance in the development and implementation of claims management procedures across the project
  • Ensure compliance with the contract notice periods, obligations and legal precedents.
  • May perform other related duties, as required


    The successful candidate for this role will demonstrate the following skills and experiences:

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills are required with proven proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent claim, cost and schedule analysis skills including experience in managing complex delay claims
  • Ability to review major complex claim, cost and schedule analysis contracts in the building and civil engineering sectors to identify and communicate risks, changes and entitlement strategies
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Effective and proven organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a high pressure and demanding work environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Demonstrate ability to perform maturely and professionally ensuring complete confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information
  • Demonstrate the ability to think critically, act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems, and make decisions


  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with major contractors in roles dealing with management of project change procedures, cost management, claims and variations, negotiation and settlement of disputes with owners and subcontractors.
  • Experience operating at a senior level on a major construction project.
